Hk Glock - The VP9 is also one of the guns that HK has made a name for itself. Before that, Heckler & Koch armed military and law enforcement agencies around the world with weapons like HK MP5 and UMP, HK416 rifle, P7 rifle, USP and USP Compact, P2000, HK45 and p30.
If there's one thing you know about Heckler & Koch, it's that they're synonymous with quality firearms that serve with military, law enforcement, and civilians around the world.

And if you know anything about Heckler & Koch, you must have heard of the HK VP9 9mm pistol, which was first released to the general market in 2014.
Hk Vp9 Vs Gen 5 Glock 19
Today, the HK VP9 competes with other guns such as the CZ P10C, Glock 19, and Walther PPQ. So, yes, another “9mm assault pistol” on the market.
But still, in many ways the HK VP9 is a unique proposition, and we'll see why in this review.
Contrary to popular belief, the VP9 was not the first HK submachine gun. That title belongs to the HK VP70, which was actually the first company to produce a polymer-fired, bullet-proof Glock 17 in nearly a decade.
In fact, in many ways, the VP9 is simply a further development of the P30, with the main difference being that the P30 is fired while the VP9 is fired.
Which Gun Is Better: The Glock 19 Or The Heckler & Koch Vp9?
VP9 was officially released in 2014, as we mentioned before, but it had been in development for years before that. In fact, HK says that VP9 was launched in mid-2010.
The main reason for building the HK VP9 was two-fold. First, the company wanted to make a gun with a single-stage trigger and a clean break, unlike the double-action / single-action autos that had come before it.
Second, the company also wants to compete in the US civilian market. Shotguns have been popular over the years, meaning that HK's DA/SA pistols have not been very attractive to many American shooters.
In addition, HK pistols are very expensive, and guns like the USP or P30 cost $800+. With the VP9, HK tried to make a gun that would appeal to more American shooters and be offered at a lower price. The VP9 can often be purchased for $500+, which is more in line with competing pistols from Glock, Smith & Wesson, and Walther.
Heckler & Koch Vp70
No doubt the 'VP' in the HK VP9 name stands for Volkspistole, which translates to "people's pistol" to reflect HK's desire to make a pistol for the US civilian market.
Current VP9 pistols, at least those designed for the US market, were manufactured in Germany, but then assembled in the state of Georgia due to import restrictions imposed by the Firearms Control Act of 1968.
In many ways, the VP9 is nothing special. It is shot, has a polymer frame and a Glock-like trigger safety.
But it also has many other features that set it apart, including full ambidextrous controls, a Picatinny rail for adding lights, lasers, and other accessories, and adjustable back and side plates (most newer pistols today have adjustable straps but no side plates). .
Hk Vp9 Vs Glock 19: How Do They Compare?
This means that the VP9 can comfortably accommodate a wider range of hand sizes than other pistols, which is just a very nice feature.
Another great feature of the VP9 is the single-stage trigger. When the Walther PPQ was released in 2011, there was a consensus that it was one of the best all-around pistols on the market, lighter and lighter than comparable options like the Glock 19, Smith & Wesson M&P, or Springfield. XD
If any gun comes close to a PPQ trigger, it's the VP9. Many shooters report that the VP9 has a shorter time than the PPQ, but a smaller pause. However, the VP9 trigger is considered superior out of the box to a Glock or Smith & Wesson M&P trigger, which is what you'd expect from superior engineering.
Another feature of the VP9, and a very rare one at that, is the charging port integrated into the rear side of the slide. They are designed to be easier to jump in wet and bad conditions.
Can Heckler & Koch Vp9 Gun Stand Up To The Mighty Glock 19?
It was a smart move by HK to make sure the VP9 accepts the same magazines as the P30. The convenience here for HK is that they don't have any type of magazine and for you that means you can have two guns but only need one type of magazine.
The magazines are very high quality and have gone through many torture tests such as spec tests and still perform well. The magazine is made of metal with a polymer plate
The magazines are also made by HK, not from a third party manufacturer like Mec-Gar like many other pistols on the market.
One thing about the VP9 magazines that many people don't like is that they only hold 15 rounds.

If fifteen rounds sounds like a lot, the truth is that the VP9 holds about the same size as a Glock 17 or Canik TP9, which holds 17 and 18 rounds. 15 rounds, so many people ask why HK did not increase the capacity of the weapon.
The answer to this question is that HK newspapers have less capacity than their competitors. For example, the full size USP9 holds 15 rounds and the USP40 holds 13 rounds, while they may have more rounds in the magazine.
HK says that having their magazines have smaller bullets will increase their overall life before they need to be replaced because there will be less stress on the springs. Is this idea true? Maybe, maybe not.
However, 15 rounds of 9mm is a lot of firepower, and a loss of 2-3 is not that great. You can return the gun, right? If yes, then there is nothing to complain about.

Another downside of HK magazines is the price. They are very expensive, and you can expect to pay $40 to $50 for a single P30/VP9 magazine, compared to magazines from other gun manufacturers that can cost half that, or even less in some cases. It's just something you have to prepare for.
There are now many variants of the HK VP9 offered in the US market today. These include:
This is the base model of the VP9. It ships with three standard points and two 15-round magazines.
This is the same as the regular VP9 model, except it ships with 3 magazines and three dot tritium metal night sights. It is intended for law enforcement units, but can also be used by citizens. In fact, the name of the "Law Protection" option is actually a marketing ploy, as you can easily buy extra magazines and swap out the sight with the standard VP9 to make it the LE version.

This version of the VP9 has three magazines, a night sight, and a threaded barrel for attaching a suppressor. It also has a heavier spring which is believed to make the weapon safer.
This VP9 variant has a standard push button magazine release with a European paddle magazine release. Note that the VP9B requires a special magazine that cannot accept standard P30/VP9 magazines as a result of the push button.
The VP9SK is a sub-compact VP9 with barrel, slide and frame. It comes with two ten-round magazines, but accepts a standard 15-round magazine that pops out from under the barrel. The VP9SK would make a great stealth machine or sidearm for the larger VP9 rifle.
